Arrangement Trick to Highlight the Hooks
In this video you’ll find a cool arrangement trick – or rather a move – to spice up the hooks of your song. As an example I’m using one of my own songs that I’ve been working on. Let’s dive right in:
Did you hear how those few added tracks made the part sound much more interesting? None of the extra tracks are earth shattering on their own, but they all have a part to play. Together they make a difference.
Hooks are probably the reason why people want to listen your songs over and over again. When working on your own songs, pinpoint the hooks or the parts you really like, and figure out how you could highlight them to be even more interesting and engaging. You want them to be as juicy as possible, small ear candies straight from heaven. These little tweaks can take a song from being good to being great.
Highlighting the Hooks
Build around the hook. Could it benefit from a doubled track with another sound or harmonies? Maybe both? Does it get better with extra tracks panned left and right to get some width? Usually small things add up, after all the point is not to change the song you’ve written. The point is to enhance what’s good in it. Try different ideas and choose the ones you like.
In case you’re filled with inspiration and poring with ideas, consider using different arrangement solutions each time the hook comes in the song. The listener will have something different to hear each time. People are getting bored more easier than ever, give them reasons to listen your songs.
