Bigger Synths by Stacking Preset Sounds
Can you make preset synths sounding great and suitable for your songs? I’d say you can. If you haven’t got the time, the skills or the interest to start crafting own sounds from the start – then you can do this instead. In this video I’m showing you how to create huge sounding synths by stacking preset sounds.
You can totally make preset synth sounds work. It’s just the matter of how you’re using them. If you can’t seem to find suitable sounds, try stacking them on top of each other. Create a few tracks and copy paste the same midi content to them. Try to find sounds that fit together and sound interesting.
Explore with different volumes and octaves. For example one of the tracks could be from higher octave and really quiet, whereas the other track could be louder and from lower octave etc.
Searching the sounds can take a while, so I highly recommend doing it at the end of the composing / arranging phase. If you’re doing it while you’re songwriting, you can easily lose focus on the song itself. Do it the as the last thing.
